Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions are informal, community-led discussions that bring people together around a shared interest to discuss, exchange experiences and network in an open, non-commercial environment. This page explains what a BoF is, how to host one, and the support OCX provides.

Host your own BoF at OCX

The BoF submissions are not open yet. Everything below explains what we look for and how the process works, so you can prepare in the meantime.

BoF schedule

The OCX BoF schedule will be published here once sessions are confirmed. In the meantime, see the Agenda for the full programme.

Who can host a BoF?

Anyone registered to attend OCX can propose a BoF, whether you are a developer, researcher, maintainer, community manager or industry practitioner. The OCX event team will help you organise and schedule the session.

Why host a BoF?

Hosting a BoF gives you the opportunity to:

  • Bring together people facing similar challenges
  • Explore emerging ideas that do not fit into a traditional talk
  • Exchange practical experiences and lessons learned
  • Spark collaboration across projects, companies and communities
  • Build stronger connections within the open source ecosystem

What do we offer?

OCX provides dedicated support to make BoF sessions easy to run:

  • A reserved time slot during the conference (one or two hours slots)
  • A meeting space at the venue, with a capacity of 40 to 60 people
  • Visibility on the OCX agenda
  • Promotion to attendees ahead of the event

Sign up to host a BoF

Once the submissions open, it’s a simple process. Include the session details in the form: title, description, preferred time slots and any additional support needed. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis.
